Our story began in 1983 with one clear vision: to create nautical-inspired, quality pieces that allow

realize and experience the joy of the water. Starting with only six outerwear pieces, Nautica grew into
a renowned global
lifestyle brand with over 35 categories in more than 65 countries.

1983
With just 6 outerwear pieces, Nautica is
founded by designer David Chu in New
York City.
1993
Nautica becomes the official brand of the
US Sailing Team in the Olympic Games.
1996
Nautica Competition is launched, a
bold activewear brand that solidifies
Nautica's iconic status in '90s fashion.
1999
Nautica Jeans Co. is introduced, a more
casual take on sportswear focusing on
premium denim.
2009
Nautica becomes a corporate
sponsor of Oceana.
2013
Nautica celebrates 30 years at New York
Fashion Week with the launch of Black Sail.
2020
Nautica introduces Wavemakers, a series
that spotlights people making positive
change in the world.
Nautica launches Sustainably Crafted, a
collection of environmentally-conscious
